Peopleplace Cooperative Preschool is seeking a lead toddler teacher to oversee our toddler program in a collaborative, team-teaching environment. The children's age ranges are 15 months to 2.9 yrs old and is a multi-age model. Generally, two teachers work with a group of 10 children on any given day. We are a Play-Based, Nature-Based, Reggio Emilia inspired preschool located in beautiful Camden, Maine.
The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, works well with a team, is a strong communicator and loves children. Bachelor's degree, CDA or Toddler credential is required. Experience with Reggio (or the arts) and Nature-Based education is preferred. A background check and fingerprinting is required. A full job description will be provided upon receipt of resume and cover letter. Some computer skills and public speaking to groups of parents is necessary.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall health, operations, and sustainability of the organization. This role will work with a team of five teachers and the Board of Directors to ensure program excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, staff development, and strong relationships with families.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
● Partner with Staff and Board of Directors to advance PICW’s mission, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability.
● Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor teaching staff.
● Ensure appropriate staffing levels, schedules, and professional development.
● Serve as the primary liaison and build and sustain relationships between the Board, Staff, families, and community partners.
Program & Educational Quality
● Ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children.
● Oversee implementation of a play-based curriculum aligned with Maine Early Learning and Development Standards (MELDS/ITMELDS).
Operations, Compliance & Facilities
● Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with Maine DHHS licensing rules, MRTQ standards, and accreditation requirements.
● Maintain accurate staff and child records.
● Lead emergency preparedness planning, drills, and health and safety protocols.
● Coordinate facility maintenance and safety checks
Financial Management & Fundraising
● Work with the Board to develop and manage the annual budget.
● Monitor financial performance, tuition structures, billing, collections, and enrollment capacity.
● Work with the Board in identifying and managing grants, grant reporting, and other fundraising activities.
Qualifications
● Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in early childhood education and/or childcare leadership.
● Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
● Experience with play-based, child-centered educational models.
● Knowledge of Maine childcare licensing, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
● CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

The Education and Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional practices across the childcare programs. This role supports educators through coaching, training, and collaboration to ensure high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that align with organizational goals, state standards, and best practices.Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum frameworks that support children’s development and learning outcomes
Ensure curriculum aligns with state standards, licensing requirements, and evidence-based practices
Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to teaching staff
Collaborate with educators to plan engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning experiences
Observe classrooms regularly and provide constructive feedback to support instructional quality
Support lesson planning, assessment practices, and documentation of child progress
Analyze program data and child outcomes to inform curriculum enhancements and staff training needs
Lead onboarding and orientation for new teaching staff related to curriculum and instructional practices
Stay current on early childhood education trends, research, and best practices
Partner with leadership to support accreditation, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance efforts
Communicate effectively with families regarding curriculum approaches and learning goals
Direct support in classrooms, as needed, up to 10 hours per week.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years of teaching experience in early childhood or a related educational setting
Experience in curriculum development, coaching, or instructional leadership
Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices including NAEYC and MELDS.
Familiarity with state licensing regulations and quality rating systems
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to build positive relationships with staff, families, and community partners
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Experience facilitating professional development and adult learning
Strong observational and assessment skills
Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable strategies
