      This group was formed in the fall of 2005 for the purpose of sharing ideas, information, concerns, and possibilities surrounding the concept of public preschool education in the Bath area.       

   Discussion with the educators, community preschool providers, and school administrators of this Preschool Initiative Interest Group served as a sounding board for the development of a local public preschool projects. Input from this group was instrumental in establishing a public community based 4 year old program by Phippsburg Elementary in the fall of 2006. All 4 year old children residing in the town of Phippsburg now have the opportunity to attend one of three community preschool programs at no cost.


The Preschool Initiative Group remains active and welcomes new participants who are interested in sharing ideas concerning early childhood education as well as exploring options for preschool children in the Bath area.
